Floods eases in Thai East
BANGKOK, September 24 (TNA) - Floods in the Thai East have been receding, especially in the Meuang Aranyaprathet municipality where thousands of people from several agencies joined a clean-up Monday after nearly a week of flooding.
In Pachinburi province, Governor Jittra Promchutima told reporters when inspecting the updated flooding situation that floodwater in Kabin Buri district, in particular, has receded by over 10 centimetres, as water levels in the main Prachinburi River has flowed into Sri Mahapote district, where more sluice gates have been opened to help relieve floods leading the overall improving inundation situation in the province with no more critically-flood areas now.
In nearby Sa Kaeo province, Governor Sanit Naksuksri led a big clean-up in the Meuang Aranyaprathet municipality, after a five-day inundation, in order to rehabilitate local business areas; while two other flooded communities, at 30-50 centimetre-floodwater, the governor assessed that the situation should return to normal within 1-2 time.
