FM Kang visits photo exhibit in Tokyo promoting PyeongChang Olympics

TOKYO, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's top diplomat on Tuesday visited a photo exhibition in Tokyo co-organized by Yonhap News Agency to promote the 2018 Winter Olympics in Korea.
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha looked at photos at the "Korea and Japan Connect Through Photos" exhibition at the Korea Culture Center in Japan one day before its opening.
"A lot of excellent photos have been put together. I hope many people come to see the exhibit," Minister Kang said. "I'll do my best for the successful hosting of the PyeongChang Olympics," she added.
The event, jointly hosted by Yonhap, South Korea's key wire service, the National Museum of the Korean Contemporary History, and the Korea Culture Center in Japan, will open on Wednesday and run through Feb. 10.
Some 70 photos from Yonhap and Japan's Kyodo News depicting the two countries' sports, history and nature were put on display. The event will be co-hosted.
There will also be spaces for introducing two mascots of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and each event of the forthcoming international sports meet. Videos featuring promotional messages from the Olympics' honorary ambassadors will also be put on display.
In September, Yonhap opened a joint photo exhibition with Kyodo and China's Xinhua News Agency as part of efforts to promote the 2018 Winter Olympics at the history museum in central Seoul. About 90 photos on areas ranging from politics to nature to sports are currently on display. The exhibit will run till March 18.
The Winter Olympics will be held in three South Korean cities -- PyeongChang, Gangneung and Jeongseon -- from Feb. 9-25. The Paralympics will be held in PyeongChang from March 9-18.
