Foreign Minister chairs 7th meeting of Foreign Ministry Council

Manama, Nov. 4 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, chaired the 7th meeting of the Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was held via videoconference and attended by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry’s Undersecretaries and Assistant Undersecretaries, the Minister’s Advisors and the Secretary of the Council. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Federal Republic of Germany, Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi, in addition to a number of Directors from the Ministry’s General Court. At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed pride in the sincere efforts made by the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kingdom's embassies abroad to perform the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to the ministry in order to achieve the Kingdom's foreign policy, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also praised Bahrain’s distinguished success in combating the coronavirus pandemic and mitigating its repercussions on both citizens and residents. The council was first briefed by the Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, on the efforts exerted by the working group to organise workshops concerned with preparing the National Human Rights Plan. He, then, presented the results of the workshop organised by the ministry on defining the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in supporting the Kingdom's ministries in various fields. After discussing the remarks contained in the National Audit Office’s annual report 2018-2019, the council was briefed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, on the efforts made by the ministry to address these remarks. In its session, the council adopted the training system for members of the diplomatic and consular corps, which is implemented by the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, in order to boost the capabilities of diplomats and provide them with a comprehensive and scientific qualification to enable them to perform diplomatic duties in the ministry’s General Court and in diplomatic missions abroad. The Council also reviewed a presentation of the work of the Central Register Automation Committee of treaties, agreements and memoranda of understanding at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. The Council followed up on the implementation of the decisions previously taken by the council. It also discussed a number of issues on its agenda and took appropriate decisions regarding them.
