Foreign Minister meets Belgian Deputy Premier

Brussels, Feb.9 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani met today the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Ms. Sophie Wilmes, as part of his official visit to Brussels. Dr. AlZayani highlighted the existing friendship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Belgium, in light of their mutual keenness to strengthen and consolidate bilateral relations in a way that serves their common interests. He stressed the importance of exchanging official visits between officials of the two countries and continuing political consultations to promote friendship and common cooperation in a variety of areas. For her part, the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the visit of the Foreign Minister to meet with officials of the European Union. She praised bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing her country's keenness to continue strengthening those relations for the good and benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples and wishing Bahrain continued progress and prosperity. The meeting also focused on discussing a number of issues of common concern. The meeting was attended by MoFA’s Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Denmark, and representative to the European Union and NATO, Dr. Bahia Jawad Al-Jishi, and the Minister’s accompanying delegation.
