Foreign Minister meets GCC Secretary-General

Manama, Oct.28 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, held a meeting today with the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Dr. Nayef bin Falah Al-Hajraf, on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain with his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the efforts exerted by the GCC General Secretariat to promote joint Gulf action, as well as to continue the Gulf Cooperation achievements in various areas, as directed by their royal highnesses the leaders of GCC countries, and in a way that meets the aspirations of GCC people for a more comprehensive Gulf. They also followed up on the results of the relevant ministerial committees meetings that were held during the current session of the Cooperation Council and the topics it discussed. They reviewed a number of initiatives that the General Secretariat is implementing to promote the relations of the GCC with international countries, through dialogue and strategic partnerships, to serve the Gulf Cooperation process and the vital interests of GCC countries. They emphasized the importance attached by the member states of the Cooperation Council to strengthening joint cooperation in view of the developments in the political and security situation in the region, the nature of the conditions experienced by the GCC countries in light of the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic. The two sides stressed the need to work on promoting Gulf solidarity to face various political and security challenges, in addition to meeting the aspirations of the citizens of member states. The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat.
