Foreign minister meets US deputy secretary of state

Manama, Oct. 13 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, met today the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America, John J. Sullivan, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Public Security Chief, Major-General Tariq bin Hassan Al-Hassan. The minister welcomed the Deputy Secretary of State and his accompanying delegation, stressing the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to bolster its joint cooperation and coordination with the friendly United States of America. He also expressed his pride of and appreciation for the deep-rooted historical and strategic relations between the two countries, which are constantly developing at all levels, thus reflecting the priority of two countries to bolster these relations for their common interests. Major-General Tariq bin Hassan Al-Hassan delivered a presentation on the Iranian interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain by supporting and funding terrorist cells, and the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior to counter and eradicate terrorism. John J. Sullivan noted the continuous development of the strong relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America on various political, security and economic levels, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity. A number of regional and international issues of common interest were further reviewed during the meeting.
