Foreign minister receives call from Russian counterpart

Manama, July 22 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, received today a phone call from his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. They stressed the depth of friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation and its development in all areas, in light of the keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President Vladimir Putin of Russia to advance these relations. Dr. Al-Zayani affirmed the importance of following up the implementation of the bilateral agreements signed between the two friendly countries in a way that meets the common aspirations and achieves comprehensive bilateral cooperation in all fields in the service of common interests. He hailed the prominent role played by Russia in the regional and international arenas, and its political leverage in promoting security and stability in the region in light of the tensions witnessed by a number of countries in the region, including Yemen, Syria and Libya. He also stressed the need to strengthen international efforts to reduce tension and reach peaceful political solutions to the ongoing conflicts, which contribute to preserving the security and stability of the region and alleviating the suffering of its people, wishing the Russian Federation more progress and prosperity. For his part, Minister Lavrov emphasized his country’s keenness to promote bilateral cooperation with Bahrain in all aspects, as well as joint coordination in various issues. He stressed the importance of international cooperation towards the delivery of humanitarian aid to people affected by international conflicts, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further development.
