Foreign Minister receives call from UN official

Manama, June 18 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani affirmed that Israel’s implementation of its plans to annex Palestinian territories and expand settlements in the West Bank is a clear violation of international resolutions and a step that would undermine the chances of achieving a just and lasting peace in the region. This came as he received a telephone call today from the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov, during which the two sides discussed efforts to resume consultations to pave the way for the Quartet’s meeting. The Minister also warned of the grave repercussions of the Israeli intentions and decisions on the peace process in the Middle East and on security and stability in the entire region. During the conversation, the two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concern.
