Foreign Minister receives IISS Director-General

Manama, Dec. 7 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, received, here today, the Director-General and Chief Executive of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Dr. John Chipman, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa. The minister welcomed Dr. John Chipman, appreciating the efforts exerted by IISS in organising the 16th Manama Dialogue, in light of current health conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Al-Zayani also expressed his pride in the success of the conference and the high participation of the ministers of foreign affairs, interior, and defense, as well as senior officials from various countries, thus reflecting the conference’s crucial role in providing an opportunity for decision-makers and specialists to exchange visions and ideas on various regional and international challenges, as well as strengthening international cooperation. Dr. John Chipman expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its continued cooperation with IISS and its support for their initiatives, namely the Manama Dialogue. He also underlined the Kingdom’s pivotal role in establishing stability and security regionally and internationally, and commended the hospitality accorded to delegations.
