Foreign Minister receives Palestinian official

Manama, May 20 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, received in his office at the Ministry’s General Court today, the Palestinian Supreme Youth and Sports Council Chairman and President of Palestine Football Association, Major General Jibril Al Rajoub. The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Palestinian Supreme Youth and Sports Council Chairman and President of Palestine Football Association and reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s unequivocal position in supporting the Palestinian cause in various international forums and in solidifying the legitimate right of the Palestinian people in establishing an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the principle of the two-state solution and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative. The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the next step requires concerted efforts and universal endeavours towards a bright economic future that is conducive to peace and supportive of growth to benefit the region as a whole. He noted that the "Peace to Prosperity" economic workshop, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in partnership with the United States of America, aims to invest infrastructure and boost the facilities required for developing the West Bank and Gaza Strip as well as enabling the Palestinian people to prosper, grow and achieve a better future in all fields. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also highlighted the relentless efforts made by Major General Jibril Al Rajoub in advancing the Palestinian sports movement, wishing him success. For his part, Major General Jibril Al Rajoub expressed his utmost pleasure to have met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, commending the Kingdom’s supportive brotherly stances in regards to the Palestinian issue, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further success and prosperity.
