Foreign Minister receives phone call from US Secretary of State

Manama, Aug. 22 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, today received a phone call from the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Anthony Blinken. The US Secretary of State expressed the US government's thanks and appreciation for the support and assistance provided by the Kingdom of Bahrain to facilitate the evacuation of US citizens from Afghanistan, affirming the depth of the historic friendly relations between the two countries. Dr. Al-Zayani expressed Bahrain’s pride in its close strategic partnership with the US, stressing that the Kingdom, based on its humanitarian obligations, is ready to cooperate with international partners in supporting relief efforts in Afghanistan and maintaining regional peace and security. He also highlighted the Kingdom’s aspiration for the return of security, stability and peace to Afghanistan.
