Foreign minister receives SCW secretary-general

Manama, Mar. 5 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, praised the efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), to empower women in all fields as well as implement initiatives and programmes aimed at promoting women and bolstering their role in comprehensive development in all fields of life. This came as the minister received today the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al Ansari. He reviewed the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain to promote the role women, competently bolstering equal opportunities and integrating the needs of Bahraini women in the development process at all levels. He praised choosing Manama as the Arab Women Capital for 2017, which culminates the great efforts made by the Supreme Council for Women to support the joint Arab action in the field of women, wishing the council further success. Al Ansari expressed her appreciation for the minister’s support to the council to promote the status of women and his keenness to bolster cooperation for the benefit of women, affirming the importance of the exchange of expertise to achieve further success and progress for women. The meeting discussed preparations by the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
