Foreign Minister receives Thai, ASEAN Ambassadors

Manama, Dec. 4 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, received at his office today, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Thanis Na Songkhla, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Mr. Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver, Ambassador of Malaysia, Mr. Agus Salim bin Yusof, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Nur Syahrir Rahardjo, and the Chargé d'Affaires Brunei Darussalam embassy to Bahrain, Farida Hisham. The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the ambassadors of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), reiterating his sincere thanks to the Kingdom of Thailand, the current President of ASEAN, for the kind invitation to join the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), which will contribute to the consolidation of relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and ASEAN, to develop aspects of cooperation between them and move forward to broad prospects in support of common interests, he expressed his pride in the steady progress of friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the ASEAN countries at various levels. Mr. Thanis Na Songkhla and the ASEAN Ambassadors congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, which reflects the depth of the friendly relations between the two sides, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
