Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary meets Philippines’ official; stresses Bahrain’s care for migrant workers

Manama, Dec. 29 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, today met the Department of the Philippines Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs, Sarah Lou Arriola, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain from December 28-31. The Undersecretary for International Affairs commended the close historical friendship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of the Philippines, praising the effective role of the Filipino community in the Kingdom of Bahrain and their contributions to Bahrain’s development march. He also affirmed that the expatriate workers of various nationalities residing in the Kingdom receive all attention and care. He also reviewed measures taken by Bahrain to enhance awareness of the conditions of migrant workers, as well as combat forced labour and trafficking in persons, in accordance with the highest international standards. The DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs expressed her country's appreciation for the care extended by the Bahraini government to the Filipino community, especially in light of COVID-19, affirming ways to develop cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields. She wished the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
