Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary receives UN official

Manama, Feb. 6 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, today received in her office at the Ministry's General Court, the UN Women Representative and Acting Regional Director, Moez Dureid. Dr. Shaikha Rana welcomed the UN official and affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's keenness to enhance partnership with the United Nations and its specialised agencies, and to continue cooperation and joint coordination at various levels to meet common aspirations. She pointed to the success of the Kingdom of Bahrain in strengthening its leading position as a role model in empowering and caring for Bahraini women thanks to the royal reforms of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She stressed that these great accomplishments are also the result of the great efforts led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), who was behind the comprehensive qualitative leap in women empowerment. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the opening of the Representative Office of UN Women in the Kingdom of Bahrain would enhance the position of the country as a global pioneer in what relates to women and enable Bahrain to broaden its exchange of experiences with the world. Moez Dureid expressed his pride to have met the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and praised the continuous efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to empower women in various fields. He affirmed the keenness of the United Nations and its agencies to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain to advance the development process and help it achieve the highest levels of sustainability, competitiveness and justice, wishing the Kingdom continuous progress and prosperity
