Foreign Ministry condemns offensive film broadcast by Al Jazeera Channel

Manama, Mar.10 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed today that it had sent a note of protest to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The note included the Ministry’s strong condemnation of a TV programme titled (Out of Context), aired on Qatari channel “Al Jazeera on March 7. The film contained false information and allegations put forward by hired instigators, which Qatar, Gulf and Arab countries all know that they receive their orders from foreign parties showing ill intentions towards the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered this film as being inconsistent with the principles of Al-Ula Summit declaration. The Ministry also expressed the dissatisfaction of Bahrain and its esteemed people dissatisfaction with the bad treatment that Bahraini fishermen receive from Qatari cost guards. It said that the bad treatment goes against the human rights principles stipulated in international covenants, charters and laws, and threatens the livelihood of Bahraini fishermen. The ministry said that it considers these actions taken by Qatar towards Bahrain as unacceptable, as they contradict the principles of good neighbourliness, as well as the provisions and obligations of Al-Ula declaration, which must be implemented by all signatory countries. The ministry looked forward to more positive stances and constructive policies from Qatar to help start bilateral talks in order to address pending issues and further improve relations between the two countries, to preserve the cohesion of the GCC Council and achieve its goals.
