Foreign Ministry holds farewell ceremony for outgoing Sri Lankan ambassador

Manama, July 29 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today held a farewell ceremony for the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. A. Saj U. Mendis on the occasion of the end of his term. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the ambassador to enhance friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. He affirmed keenness of the Kingdom to promote joint action to achieve common interests. For his part, the Sri Lankan ambassador expressed his pride in representing his country to the Kingdom. He expressed his appreciation to the Undersecretary for International Affairs and all officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support during his tenure, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla presented a commemorative gift to the ambassador, wishing him continued success. The ceremony was attended by a number of ambassadors of friendly countries accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as a number of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
