Foreign Ministry holds virtual regional workshop

Manama, Nov.30(BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani delegated Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabor Al Doseri, to open the Virtual Arab Regional Workshop: Investing in the SDGs through South-South & Triangular Cooperation Beyond COVID-19, entitled “Promoting conducive policy, enabling business and legal environment, and integration in the Arab States Region”. The Foreign Ministry is holding the cooperation which runs until December 2, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Assistant Foreign Minister expressed Bahrain’s pleasure to sponsor the workshop, due to its expected effective impact that leads to positive change in the Arab region, noting at the same time the seriousness of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain in providing support for the process of achieving sustainable development in all its forms. He praised the supportive content provided by think tanks and applied scientific research in the region, which contributes to enriching the knowledge base available to decision-makers in Arab countries, specifically, that which results from Arab ideology and accommodates the reality of the region and its cultural specificity in a way. He stressed the pivotal role of international cooperation in this field, especially through the exchange of experiences and best practices, in order to achieve national and regional goals in the region. He praised in the same context the role of UN agencies in providing support for regional efforts in the field of investment to achieve SDG’s, as well as the effective role played by the Middle East and North Africa Public Administration Research (MENAPAR), in developing efforts to achieve sustainable development in the Arab world. He stressed that the current challenges the world is going through, one of which is Covid-19, highlights the importance of concerted regional and international efforts among all parties of the international community.
