Foreign Ministry summons Iraqi Charge d’Affaires

Manama, June 28 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain summoned Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Mohammed Adnan Mahmoud Al-Khafaji. The Assistant Undersecretary of GCC and Arab Countries Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Mohammed Jameel, stressed to the Charge d'Affaires of Iraq, The Kingdom of Bahrain's protest of the attack on the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Baghdad on Thursday, June 27, 2019, in an irresponsible and highly reprehensible behavior. Ambassador Yusuf Mohammed Jameel added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the statements issued by the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, rejecting this attack. He stressed the mportance of holding accountable the perpetrators and preventing the recurrence of such practices, adding that the Iraqi Government shall assume its responsibilities in securing and protecting the Embassy and Consulate of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Iraq and all its employees, in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. A memorandum of protest was handed over by The Assistant Undersecretary of GCC and Arab Countries Affairs to the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq.
