Foreign Ministry Undersecretary meets UNICEF Representative

Manama, Nov.9 (BNA): Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met virtually today with the UNICEF Representative in the Gulf are, Mr. Eltayeb Adam, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Labour and Social Development.
During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa praised the close partnership and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UNICEF, noting the organization’s role in protecting children's rights at the global level.
The Undersecretary for International Affairs reviewed the pioneering and distinguished efforts taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the field of protecting children’s rights at various legislative, health, educational and social levels.
He stressed the Kingdom’s great care for everything of relevance to the rights and upbringing of the child, which has been praised by specialized international organizations.
He also stressed the importance of existing cooperation with the UNICEF, within the Strategic Partnership Framework with the United Nations and its agencies and programs.
He underscored the efforts aimed at developing it into the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for the next two years, which will provide a platform for joint work in the field of institutional capacity and coordination of development projects.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to implement its national programs that ensure the care of all segments of society, in accordance with the highest international standards, including children, as the Kingdom is among the first countries in the region to adopt a national strategy to promote children's rights, noting in this regard the royal of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation in supporting orphans and people with special needs.
For his part, the UNICEF representative praised the progress made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in all areas related to the protection of children's rights, and the Kingdom's keenness to build a strong partnership with UNICEF in the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
