Foreign Ministry's calls for deterrent measures against countries that threaten international security

Manama, June 20 (BNA): The political consultations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Poland, co-chaired by the Ministry's Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and the Polish delegation, led by Undersecretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maciej Lang, were held today at the Court of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting tackled the overall relations between the two friendly countries and ways of developing them and exchanged views on the current regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest. During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah welcomed the visit of the Polish delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing that the Kingdom attaches great importance to the consolidation of its partnership with the Republic of Poland, as the political consultations represent an important mechanism for the development of bilateral relations in various fields between the two friendly countries and peoples. The Undersecretary for International Affairs noted that the friendly relations between the two countries witnessed a new turn when His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa gifted the Polish people an Arabian horse from the royal stables in August 2014. The gift was presented in a ceremony held in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah recalled his last official visit to Warsaw in November 2017 for political consultations between the two countries during which he attended a reception ceremony hosted by the President of the Republic of Poland in the Presidential Palace on the 99th Anniversary of the founding of the second republic and regaining independence. He also highlighted the achievements of the Kingdom during the comprehensive reform process under the leadership and support of His Majesty the King. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah said the Kingdom was looking forward to Poland participation in the implementation of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 programs and projects to serve common interests. He noted that the Kingdom has a dynamic and diversified characterized by rapid growth, competitiveness and equity, coupled with significant incentives, a growing business environment, big logistical potential and facilities and a pioneering role in technical and financial technology. All these, he added, can significantly avail Polish investments and companies and help them access the Gulf market, indicating that the national economy is one of the most diversified economies in the Gulf region. He also added that there are great joint opportunities to invest in the comparative advantages of both countries and growing trade exchange, to enhance the promising relations. The Undersecretary for International Affairs noted the joint efforts of the countries in countering terrorism and its financial and ideological sources, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law. He called for the concerted efforts of the international community against those who practice terrorism against vessels and civilian installations and threaten international navigation and energy security. He also called for changing the strategy of providing incentives to countries that threaten international peace and security and adopting a deterrent policy based on exclusion, containment and punishment. He also stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under His Majesty the King, has established an international model of tolerance, peace and coexistence, and that two friendly countries can contribute together in the march of human progress. For his part, the Polish Foreign Minister expressed Poland’s keenness on strengthening cooperation and coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain, appreciating the Kingdom’s role as an important country and ally for his country in the Middle East in consolidating regional peace, pointing out that there are many joint investment opportunities, in the coming period. He also commended the results of the round of political consultations, as a qualitative addition to the bilateral partnership process. The Undersecretary for International Affairs noted the joint efforts of the countries in countering terrorism and its financial and ideological sources, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
