Fossil festival opens in Satun
SATUN, Feb 21 (TNA) -- Natural Resources and Environment Minister Surasak Kanchanarat has opened the 5th Satun Fossil Festival at the Thung Wa district office.
This year’s festival presents connection between the Satun Geopark and local lifestyles.
The festival set from Feb 19 to 28 comprises three zones for public education. They concern the history of the Satun Geopark, community-operated tours, and other exhibitions.
Gen Surasak said the Satun Geopark was a very important venue for geological education and general people should attach great importance to it.
If the UNESCO includes the Satun Geopark as one of its Global Geoparks in April, it would be a national pride, he said.
The minister said that local residents would have to adapt to the promotion of the Satun Geopark and relevant authorities must prioritise tourist safety and cleanliness.
He predicted that local residents would have more income as Satun possessed world-class tourist attractions. (TNA)
