FPS holds second edition of Folk Poetry Festival

Manama, Feb. 15 (BNA): Under the Patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Folk Poetry Society (FPS) today held the second edition of the Folk Poetry Festival, to mark the 18th anniversary of the National Action Charter (NAC), at the Four Seasons Hotel, Bahrain Bay.
During the event, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman highlighted that the National Action Charter represents a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s modern history. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman further highlighted that the endorsement of the Kingdom’s NAC by a 98.4% majority vote, reflects the consensus of all Bahrainis on the importance of development, social unity and a brighter future for all. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman noted the importance of further building on the Kingdom’s successful achievements under its comprehensive development programme, led by His Majesty King Hamad.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman thanked the FPS for organising the festival, and noted the Society’s commitment to preserving Bahrain’s rich cultural heritage and national identity. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman welcomed the local and regional poets participating in the event, noting their contribution to the event’s success.
The Vice Chairman of FPS, Shaikh Khaled bin Isa Al Khalifa then gave a speech in which he expressed gratitude and appreciation for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman’s kind patronage of the event. Shaikh Khaled welcomed everyone to the second edition of the Folk Poetry Festival, and noted that the NAC stands as a bright moment in Bahrain’s history, and acts as a foundation for the Kingdom’s progress and achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad.
Shaikh Khaled welcomed the participating poets from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and State of Kuwait. Shaikh Khaled concluded by underscoring the Society’s commitment to preserving the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.
The festival began with a traditional Ardha dance, followed by the recital of a series of poems presented by a number of Bahraini and GCC poets reflecting the Kingdom’s achievements.
