French company plans to publish works by Iranian cartoonist Derambakhsh in 2013
TEHRAN,Aug.13(MNA) – A French publishing company plans to print a selection of cartoons created by the celebrated Iranian cartoonist Kambiz Derambakhsh over the past 35 years in a book, which will be published in January 2013.
“Officials from Michel Lafon Publishing, one of the leading independent publishers in Paris, saw my cartoons at an exhibition held in Paris in May and proposed publishing a selection of my works,” Derambakhsh told.
The Nicolas Flamel Gallery in Paris in collaboration with the Paris Municipality displayed a collection of Derambakhsh’s works in an exhibit, which ran from May 31 to June 24.
The publishing company plans to publish the works in black and white format in a large-size book with a first printing of over 15,000 copies, he added.
In addition, the book will not have descriptions by the artist, but only a preface written by the publisher.
Known for his talent to find obscure themes for his creations, Derambakhsh, has worked as a cartoonist, a graphic designer and an illustrator for over 50 years.
Derambakhsh has won many awards at international competitions including the grand prize of Istanbul competition in 1990, the grand prize at Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun competition in 1998 and the grand prize of a Polish anti-war caricature contest in 2002.
