Fruit cakes for elephants

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, March 12 (TNA) – Elephants enjoyed ten-tonne of fruit cake, made for them to mark the National Elephant Day at an elephant foundation in Hua Hin. Wanit Henwongprasert, chairman of executive board of the Hutsadin Elephant Foundation in Hua Hin municipality and Thai and foreign volunteers joined the activity to hold the elephant feast today. A ten-year-old elephant “Pang Songkran” sprayed water to put out a candle on the cake, made of banana, pineapple, apples and corn. Some of six elephants at the foundation are handicapped or sick. Some are old elephants, which cannot work anymore. Thai cabinet have a resolution on May 26, 1998 to observe March 13 as the Thai National Elephant Day. (TNA)
