Garifolla Kurmangaliyev’s 100th birthday
Almaty, October 27, 2009 (Khabar) - An evening devoted to the 10th birthday of the singer and composer, Kazakhstan’s people’s artiste, state award winner, Garifolla Kurmangaliyev, has taken place in the Abai Opera and Ballet Theatre in Almaty.
His career turned successful in 1934 after the first festival of folk creativity in Almaty. After his outstanding performance, he was instantly hired by the Abai Kazakh State Academic Theatre. Kurmangaliyev was always performing the hardest parts in such operas by Brusilivskiy and Tulebayev as Zhalbyr, Yer targyn, Aiman-Sholpan, Kyz-Zhibek, and Birzhan Sara. Every performance by the tenor was unforgettable.

- Listening to his singing is fantastic as it has a spark from Garifolla. I think that thanks to these people, our traditions can be continued. The recent contest in Uralsk showed that we have talented youth and how well they know our traditions. They all have skills which can transmit the meaning of all songs.
