Gas leak at Thailand's Rojana Industrial Estate under control
BANGKOK, August 28 (TNA) - A natural gas leak inside the Zone B of the Rojana Industrial Park in Thailand's central Ayutthaya Province late Monday night is now under control.
Officials told journalists on Tuesday morning that they initially believed the gas leak was caused by the collapse of a concrete platform under a gas pipe line, creating cracks in the pipe. The officials confirmed that they have turned off gas valves, bringing the situation under control with no casualties and serious property damage.
Pramote Ko-kerd, chief of an operation unit of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), revealed that the gas is natural gas and would cause no harm to humans and the environment unless there was any spark of fire which would then cause explosions.
Pramote acknowledged, however, that the incident has led to a temporary halt of gas delivery to local industrial plants and he has, thus, ordered engineers to quickly repair the broken pipe and survey whether there are more cracks to ensure public safety. (TNA)
