GCC Customs Union holds meeting

Manama, Feb. 8(BNA): President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa today chaired 17 th GCC Customs Union meeting at the Public Security Officers' Club. GCC Customs Union members, Assistant General-Secretary of Economic and Development Affairs, Saeed Al-Abri and representatives of the member countries. The meeting followed out the results and reports drafted by the teams and technical committees and to further discuss topics that were reviewed in the previous meetings. The President of Customs welcomed the attendees, expressing thanks to Saudi Arabia for its efforts when it chaired the previous session. The meeting discussed important topics, including the traffic of trucks between member countries, in which they decided to form a team to draft a report that will be referred to the Economic and Development Affairs Authority. They also reviewed a report on direct e-transfer and the result of money transfers between member countries. They agreed to set a guideline for direct e-transfer of customs fees. They also decided to organise a visit to Turkey to learn on customs cases at railways to benefit from its experience and to hold their next meeting on May 19 at the GCC General Secretary in Riyadh.
