GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization holds meeting

Manama, Oct. 20 (BNA): Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani has chaired the third meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Committee for Standardization. The ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in Bahrain, and in implementation of the directives and visions of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, believes in partnership with the standardization entities in the GCC countries, Al Zayani said. This is within the context of the general cooperation in various fields, including the standardization sector, he added. Al Zayani noted the gains and advantages from robust solidarity in the various fields of standardization that will support the Gulf economy by emphasizing the importance of the imported and exported products meeting the technical requirements and the conformity assessment procedures aimed at protecting safety, health and the environment. Complying with the standards also facilitates trade procedures and the smooth flow of commercial products between the GCC countries in line with the laws and regulations in force internationally. The meeting also discussed the report of the head of the GCC Standardization Organization on the progress of its work in April – September as well as the memorandum of the Organization's presidency regarding the draft budget approval for the 2022 fiscal year.
