GCC press set to counter hostile media campaigns

Manama, Mar. 20 (BNA): Chairman of the Gulf Press Union, Isa Al-Shaiji, has called all Gulf newspapers to counter the fierce media assault against the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries aimed to destabilise the region's security. He said that countering these hostile media campaigns will save tremendous efforts in future as those who want to harm the region's security and stability will never stop their attempts whenever they find the chance to realize their mischievous goals. Commenting on the negative statements issued during the convening of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, he said the alleged human rights claims provide an open door to meddle in the internal affairs of Arab countries as a whole and the GCC countries in particular. He added that all the human rights progress made by the GCC countries will remain unconvincing to some antagonists who will continue to knock on that door to achieve their malicious objectives behind that door. He praised the United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s measure of summoning the Swiss ambassador in the UAE to express the UAE's denunciation of her country's anti-Bahrain statement issued during the UN Human Rights Council session. He urged to benefiting from such occasions to reaffirm that the GCC bloc's unified position and that the security and stability of Bahrain is an integral and inseparable part of combined GCC security. He urged all Gulf newspapers and journalists to confront these hostile attempts aimed to harm the GCC security and stability.
