GCC Secretary General praises Bahrain's initiative

Riyadh, Apr. 5 (BNA): Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf underlined the humanitarian aspects of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s initiative to declare April 5 the International Day of Conscience. The initiative was launched by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and endorsed by the United Nations. The GCC Secretary General described the initiative as a new international achievement for the GCC member states within the framework of their efforts to promote humanitarian values, tolerance, co-existence and peace. He pointed out that such initiatives enhance relations between governments and peoples and boost global efforts to promote welfare on the basis of justice and equality. The GCC Secretary General underscored the importance of such humanitarian initiatives, mainly in light of the current circumstances undergone by the world in fighting coronavirus pandemic. The challenge, he said, has shown how common human destiny needs noble initiatives like the International Day of Conscience. He stressed that the kingdom’s initiative reflects the humanitarian values enshrined in the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa by including them in the National Action Charter and the constitution.
