GCC on track to achieve goals

Riyadh, Dec. 5 (BNA): Bahraini Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shaikh Humood bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has stressed that the GCC march is going ahead with determination to achieve forecast goals of integration and union. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), marking the 37th GCC Summit that will be hosted by Bahrain on December 6, he said the summit has a great importance as it will convene amid critical regional and international circumstances. He voiced confidence in the GCC member states to brave ambient regional challenges through stronger and more effective cooperation. He pointed out hard regional circumstances and growing conspiracies and terror plots targeting the identity, aspirations and resources. Shaikh Humood affirmed that those challenges impart to the summit a special importance as it reflects resolve of the GCC leaders to overcome them, foster cooperation and maximize the GCC achievements brought about since the inception of the council in 1981. He added the Gulf Cooperation Council succeeded to confirm the Gulf identity, protect regional security and stability and fast-track political, economic and social development. He also underlined keenness of the GCC leaders on achieving the aspirations of their people, preserving regional security and stability and serving the interests of the Arab and Islamic nations.
