Geneva-2 Conference not successful without Iran, Syrian MP

Damascus, June 12, IRNA – A member of the Peopleˈs Council of Syria has said the Geneva-2 Conference would not be successful without Iranˈs presence.
Speaking to IRNA exclusively, Walid Al-Zaabi said that Iran, as a key player in the regional political scenes and a major state both at regional and international levels, had to be present in the Geneva-2 Conference, to be held in Switzerland in July.
Al-Zaabi stressed that Iran and the Hezbollah of Lebanon were ˈtrue friends of the Syrian people and government.ˈ
ˈThose who raised certain claims against Iran, along with their allies, intended to fuel Iranophobia in the region,ˈ Al-Zaabi said.
He referred to the US, Zionist regime, Britain, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as supporters of the terrorist groups in Syria.
ˈMost of the Syrians are currently fighting against terrorist groups along with Syrian army, as the people have now realized the true nature of the terroristsˈ, Al-Zaabi said.
Referring to the liberation of Al-Qusayr in western Syria which borders Lebanon, he said, relying on peopleˈs support, ˈthe Syrian Army has currently gained a multiplied power to confront Zionist troops.ˈ
He further said that ˈWashington is to change the rules of the game in Syria and use new tricksˈ after prolongation of the fighting between Damascus and terrorist groups./end
