German Unity Day celebrated in Thailand
BANGKOK, October 4 (TNA) - The German Embassy to Thailand organized an event to celebrate the Day of German Unity in Bangkok on October 3, attended by diplomatic corps, Thai government high ranking officials and representatives of institutes and agencies cooperating with Germany.
German Ambassador to Thailand Rolf Schulze said at Thursday evening's event, held at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, that under the newly-elected German government, there will be no change in Thai–German close relations.
According to the German top envoy, Germany remains Thailand’s strongest trading partner in the European Union (EU) and negotiations on the Thai–European Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to be concluded in the coming year.
The German Ambassador noted that German-Thai relations have gone far deeper than trade and investment, citing that more than 700,000 Germans travel to Thailand each year, while thousands of Thais learn German and study at German universities.
The German top envoy pointed out that the two countries have also cooperated in vocational training and renewable energy under their dialogues on a green and low carbon economy. (TNA)
