GISTDA supports researches on Thai food to space

BANGKOK, May 30 (TNA) - The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), space researchers, experts in food science and packaging and food processing companies collaborate in a pilot study on developing dehydrated durians to be the first Thai food for astronauts. Dried durians will be flown on-orbit for five minutes for testing the effects on food and packaging in weightlessness. Researchers will also conduct another study on development of electronic equipment, related to space food. Ammarin Pimnoo, GISDA’s head of the national space exploration project said the “Thai Food to Space” project gives opportunities for Thai researchers to develop new innovation on aerospace and zero gravity like their peers in other coutnries. Mu Space and Dvance Technology Company Limited, Thailand-based satellite startup company will support sending Thai fruit into space. The experiments are likely to start this July. (TNA)
