GU Acting director hails Khalid bin Hamad

Manama, Jan. 23 (BNA): Acting Director of Gulf University Dr. Muhannad Al-Mashhadani directed his thanks to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Bahrain Athletics Federation for praising the Gulf University, which provided scholarship to the outstanding athlete Ali Khamis, which pushes the university to give its best. Al Mashhadani affirmed that the support provided by the Gulf University was based on the attention from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa with educational attainment for athletes and all those belonging to the family of sports in the Kingdom, and his keenness to Bahraini athletes being a holder of the highest levels of education, so that the degree would complement their athletic achievements. Al Mashhadani directed his gratitude and praise to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity and Youth Affairs, Head of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee as well as His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Athletics Federation, for their continued support to sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which will serve to generate a spirit of challenge and competition in Bahraini youth. Al Mashhadani noted that the university, with the scholarship, seeks to be a leader in supporting the sports movement, to build athletes with a sense of leadership and sound intellectual foundation, in application of the proverb "a healthy mind in a healthy body". The university believes that a person who is fit physically and committed to play sports, is capable of academic excellence. Al Mashhadani confirmed that the Gulf University seeks to activate the role of community partnership with various sectors of Bahraini society to serve the sports movement, which is why it opened the door to cooperation and strategic partnership with the Media Office of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. It also signed an agreement last year with the Bahrain Olympic Committee, supporting all youth and athletes in the Kingdom of Bahrain, calling on all members of the Olympic Committee and Sports Clubs and youth to take advantage of this agreement for the sake of their educational development. Al Mashhadani added: "The Gulf University is applying everything that is compatible with the vision of the Ministry of Education and objectives of the Council for Higher Education, which leads Bahrain to be an important hub for higher education in the region, and that is in order to develop academic outcomes that will contribute to the development of society. Al Mashhadani said that lately, the Gulf University has sought to attract many academic professors who are qualified and experienced in their fields, in its keenness to sophisticate the level of educational outcomes, which are widely accepted in the local and international labour market, and that graduates of the Gulf University take up leading positions in society, since all programmes of study are licensed by the Council for Higher Education, and recipient of the full confidence in the two previous programmes which were visited by the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training in the year before last. It is worth mentioning that this educational monument seeks to be one of the most prominent, contributing to the graduation of a young generation which is distinguished and capable in all academic and technical fields of knowledge, and that it offers a number of academic programs needed by the Bahraini labour market, including a bachelor's program in media and public relations, accounting and financial systems, human resources and an Engineering Bachelor’s programme in interior design.
