Gymnasium, Sauna For Malbatt Fully Operational

By Muhammad Afiq Mohd Asri BEIRUT, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Batallion (Malbatt) team in Lebanon can enjoy a gymnasium and two sauna room facilities, which are now fully operational. Malaysian Deputy Defence Minister Mohd Johari Baharum said both facilities would help the officers and personnel to maintain their fitness after operation assignments and to improve their health. “The gymnasium is equipped with exercise equipment that can be used anytime. “We also have provided two sauna rooms for their use after duties especially during the coming winter season,” he told reporters after officiating the Malbatt’s gymnasium and sauna rooms at Marakah Camp, here, on Thursday. He said the Malbatt team needed to stay fit and healthy to ensure they could carry out their duties more effectively. When asked on the cost of both facilities, Mohd Johari said the sauna rooms cost US$19,050 (RM80,000) while he declined to disclose the cost of the gymnasium. “I would like to thank Prime Minister Najib Razak for always being concerned about the needs and welfare of the Malbatt personnel,” he said. Meanwhile a Malbatt officer, Major Muhammad Rizauden Jamaluddin said the facilities would benefit the members as they could do recreational activities comfortably. “The gymnasium and sauna rooms will help us to ease our fatigue after duties,” he said. -- BERNAMA
