Hamad Bin Khalifa University Hosts 17th Edition of the International Conference on Persuasive Technology

Doha, April 03 (QNA) - The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) hosted the 17th International Conference on Persuasive Technology 2022 to discuss the possibility of a vital knowledge exchange between academics, researchers and specialists in the field of behavioral design and persuasive technology. The conference program, which lasted for three days via video communication technology, included three workshops, an educational session, a poster competition, a quick dialogue session and four main specialized sessions. It also witnessed the participation of distinguished speakers from more than 20 countries and more than 240 registrants from 35 countries. The discussions, led by CSE experts, focused on developments in technological capabilities, including smart environments and artificial intelligence, as well as personalized persuasion in the areas of health, sustainability, education and wellbeing. Privacy, trust and security were among the main themes that were taken into account during the discussions. The conference touched on behavior change technology as promising tools to address major societal problems, and analyzed the credibility of news outlets using the "Alert" application developed by the institute to gather news with the aim of combating "fake news". The College of Science and Engineering also showcased a collaborative eye-tracking system based on artificial intelligence and augmented reality to train cardiologists to better interpret electrocardiograms.
