Haze cover Chiang Rai's Mae Sai

CHIANG RAI, March 19 (TNA) -- The haze situation in the Thai northern Chiang Rai province continued to be severe, as the level of the small particulate matter or PM kept on rising. The level of PM10 measured at the Air Quality Monitoring statifon in front of Mae Sai Public Health Office this morning stood as high as 225 microgrammes per cubic metre, while the haze level measured in the heart of Chiang Rai was also high, standing at 172 microgrammes percubic metre, surpassing the safety standard of 120 microgrammes per cubic metre. The haze has blanketed the entire sky of the province, especially over Mae Sai, Chiang Saen and Mae Chan districts as well as the provincial seat, bringing a thick blanket of haze which caused visibility to lower severely, allowing only parts of the Doi Nang Non mountain to be seen. Local residents and tourists had to wear face masks to keep from inhaling in the haze. (TNA)
