HE Qatar's Minister of Internal Affairs Inaugurates New CID Building

Doha , February 06 (QNA) - Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated on Monday the new building of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Al Duhail area. Director General of Public Security Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi as well as senior officials in the Ministry of Interior attended the inauguration ceremony. CID director Colonel Misfer Ali al-Ahbabi said during a speech on the occasion that the new building was established as part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "ambitious" plans. The building enjoys all the necessary specifications that will enhance security work, the Colonel added stressing meantime that the building would help maintain security, stability and facilitate fighting crime. He said that security is one of the most important aspects of life for people, saying that it is one of the necessities for a country's development. As a result, the Ministry of Interior gives priority to security and does not save any effort in establishing stability, the Colonel added. According to the Colonel, CID is specialized in combatting different kinds of crimes, stressing that the department is putting utmost effort to establishing security and stability to the people living in the State of Qatar. He said that the departments look for creative new ways to combat the ever-changing works of crime. After the Colonel's word, a documentary was displayed to the audience, showing the role and the biggest crimes that the department uncovered and how the perpetrators were captured. Afterwards, HE the Minister of Interior Affairs and the guests made a tour of the building and got acquainted with the several sections of the said department. A press conference was held after that by Director of the Supply and Processing Brigadier Abdulaziz Al Ansari along with the Director of CID, where they reviewed the main features of the building and the future plans of the Ministry of Interior Affairs. Brigadier Al Ansari said that completing the new building was part of the Ministry's infra-structure plan, which most of its projects has been completed. The building was built on a 18000 meters of land, while the building itself is 1000 meters in size. The total cost of the project was QR 108 million. It includes a health club, parking and a mosque among other facilities that were established with the work environment of the employees in mind. Al Ansari said that the Ministry is continuing with the construction of its remaining projects. The building for the General Directorate for Civil Defense and Al Rayan security management building are set to be inaugurated soon. He stressed that the Ministry of Interior Affairs has enough capabilities and strategic planning to deal with new facets of crime. For his part Director of CID brigadier Al-Ahbabi described the developments the CID made since it was formed in 2001 until today and stressed that the department has significantly developed in the last few years in all fields, in terms of the quantity as well as the quality. He said that the department's development came as part of the overall renaissance that the State of Qatar is going through. He noted that CID has a number of distinguished Qatari cadres who have a valuable experience as well as a set of special talents in their security performance. He said that this guarantees their ability to combat crime. He stressed however that there is no security work that does not face challenges, however Dean Al-Ahbabi maintained that the Ministry of Interior is keen to face all challenges, in order to maintain stability and security.
