Health Minister attends WHO regional meeting

Cairo, Oct. 10 (BNA): Health Minister Dr Jaleela bint Al Sayyed Jawad Hasan took part in the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, being held in Cairo, Egypt, under the theme “Together for a healthier and more sustainable tomorrow”. Addressing the session, the minister stressed support to regional efforts to raise key health issues of importance to the region and discuss ways to improve response to emergencies in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean region, develop hospital information systems and review the joint action plan of the Regional Health Alliance - 2022-2023. Dr. Hasan highlighted the role of joint regional endeavors in achieving sustainable development goals after the global COVID-19 outbreak, accelerating the pace of universal health coverage and ensuring health for all and by everyone. Bahrain’s delegation participated in the technical meetings that discussed key issues, including the local production of vaccines, the regional strategy to eliminate cervical cancer, and the regional approach to the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.
