Health Minister congratulates WHO Regional Director

Manama, Jan. 24 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa Al-Saleh has congratulated Dr. Mahmoud Fikri on his election as the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, and wished him success in his new mission. Dr. Fikri will take office for five year starting on February,1, 2017. Dr Fikri is currently Adviser to the Minister of Health of United Arab Emirates. He took office (1995–2013) as Assistant Undersecretary for Preventive Medicine and Health Policies Affairs at the Health Ministry. He served as a member of Board of Directors of the WHO Centre for Health Development and Researches, "Kobe Centre", Japan, and a member of the Advisory Board of the GCC Health Council (1996–2005).
