Health Minister receives Resident Coordinator of United Nations Activities in Bahrain

Manama, Aug. 14 (BNA): Minister of Health, Dr. Jalila bint Sayed Jawad Hassan, received Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Khalid El Mekwad. She welcomed him, stressing the ministry’s keenness on boosting partnership with the UN and its agencies to achieve common goals. She also reviewed Bahrain’s efforts to develop the health sector through a comprehensive health system, within the framework of the Health Insurance Project and the self-management project of the primary health care centres and public hospitals. For his part, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain expressed thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Health for the gracious welcome and interest in bolstering cooperation with the UN in the health field. He wished the Kingdom of Bahrain constant growth and prosperity. The meeting was attended by Assistant Secretary General for Public Health, Dr. Meriam Al Hajeri, and representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Tasnim Atatra.
