Health Minister receives South Korean Ambassador

Manama, Oct. 25 (BNA): Health Minister, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh, received here today South Korean Ambassador to Bahrain, Hae Kwan Chung, and discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various health fields, especially the management systems of hospitals, training and research. The minister commended the efforts being exerted by the envoy to strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation relations, praising the positive results of cooperation between the two countries in the implementation of the Health Insurance System, in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Health, and the exchanged visits between their health officials. She asserted that the kingdom’s cooperation with South Korea will continue to implement the provisions of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in the health field. Minister Al-Saleh reviewed the latest global developments of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and the precautionary and pre-emptive measures in force to curb its spread. The ambassador lauded the precautionary measures implemented by the Government of Bahrain to combat the pandemic and protect the health of the citizens and residents, in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation. The minister affirmed the kingdom’s keenness to avail of South Korea’s advanced technological, research and training experience in the field of infectious diseases, and to create opportunities for ways to bolster cooperation in strengthening the health sector. Ambassador Hae Kwan Chung affirmed his country’s interest in broadening cooperation with the kingdom, especially in the health sector, and in investing in medical tourism. He praised the steady progress witnessed by the health sector in the kingdom, and its role in enhancing the national development march. The minister wished the envoy every success in carrying out his diplomatic duties and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the development fields, particularly health.
