Health Minister receives WHO delegation

Manama, Nov.11 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh has today received a delegation of World Health Organization (WHO), in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr. Mariam Al Hajeri.
The meeting which was also attended by WHO Office director Dr. Tasnim Al Atatra, Food Programme regional consultant Dr. Ayoub Al Jawalda, focused on reviewing the recommendations of a feasibility study on investment in prevention to control non-communicable diseases.
Al Said commended the level of cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to provide strategic support to the health sector which contribute to the sustainability of services.
She said that the protection of citizens and residents represents a top priority, particularly patients suffering from non-communicable diseases, highlighting concerted national efforts to promote prevention and control these types of illnesses.
She underlined the role played by the National Committee for Combating Non-communicable diseases, highlighting the ministry’s efforts to enhance services and consolidating public health.
The delegation commended Bahrain’s procedures, adding that their four-day visit which started on November 8 focused on reviewing recommendations to invest in chronic non-communicable diseases and discuss the events lined up for the period 2022-2023.
