HH the Emir Chairs Meeting of Supreme Council of Economic Affairs and Investment

Doha, February 15 (QNA) - HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar and President of the Supreme Council of Economic Affairs and Investment (SCEAI), chaired at the Emiri Diwan the first meeting of the council for 2012. HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent and Deputy Chairman of the Council attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and SCEAI Executive Member. The Council discussed the topics on the agenda and took the appropriate decisions on them, the Minister of Economy and Finance and SCEAI Secretary-General, HE Yousef Hussain Kamal told Qatar news agency (QNA). It considered the investment performance report for the year 2011and the investment strategy for 2012; and adopted the budget of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) for 2012, he said. The Council also heard an explanatory presentations on the action plan for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which were established following the SCEAI third meeting on August, 14 2011 and the establishment of company with a capital of USD$ 1 billion to invest in small capital projects abroad, he added. It was as well briefed on the dependency of Qatar Petroleum (QP) to the SCEAI and took the appropriate procedures on it, said the Minister of Economy and Finance. (QNA)
