HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad highlights Bahrain's strides in protecting Ozone Layer

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): Bahrain will join the International Community in marking the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, which falls on the 16th of September.
Themed " Global cooperation protecting life on earth", this year's International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer coincides with the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
In a statement, HM the King's Personal Representative, Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) President, His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has asserted that Bahrain's continuous representation of the countries of the region at the level of executive committees, and winning of the Presidency of the Executive Committee of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer for 2022, reflect the confidence of the international and regional communities in its active role in promoting international cooperation to achieve the goals of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad indicated that Bahrain's experience in achieving the goals of the Montreal Protocol is a model to be followed at the regional and international levels, embodying its great interest in preserving the Ozone Layer, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and thanks to the ongoing support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad stressed that the SCE's initiatives to support institutions and technicians working in the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors have contributed to improving technical practices in the field of management of refrigeration media and refrigeration and air conditioning units, in accordance with the best internationally approved practices.
HH underlined the SCE's keenness to continue providing the necessary support to the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors while making progress in reducing ozone-depleting substances, noting that the SCE seeks to reduce the average baseline by 73.5%, in accordance with the requirements of the Montreal Protocol and the approved projects for the Kingdom of Bahrain until 2025 in the field of international cooperation to reduce Ozone layer-depleting emissions.
HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad commended the efforts exerted by the SCE's affiliates and all stakeholders to devise and implement national projects and environmental programmes that support the kingdom's efforts to protect the Ozone Layer, placing Bahrain among the leading countries in achieving the goals of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
His Highness expressed pride in the international achievements in protecting the Ozone Layer, leading to its gradual recovery.
