HH Shaikh Nasser receives marathon runner

Manama, Dec. 15 (BNA): National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, Major-General HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, received here today, in the presence of the Royal Guard's Special Force Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, runner First-Sergeant Ibrahim Al-Tamimi, who set a new marathon record during a training session on Saturday morning, when he completed a 42-km distance in 2 hours, 18 minutes and 31 seconds. HH Shaikh Nasser lauded the advanced level showcased by marathon runner, Ibrahim Al-Tamimi, noting that his timing is distinguished at the level of Bahrain. He stressed that the exploit would motivate Al-Tamimi to carry on his tremendous efforts with high morale in order to reach the highest levels of readiness ahead of the qualifying race for the Tokyo Olympiad 2021. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed delight at the distinguished level reached by runner Sergeant Al-Tamimi after the intensive training programme put forward for him, both in Bahrain and Morocco, which enhanced his general performance, and enabled him to set a new Bahraini record. Al-Tamimi is preparing to take part in the qualifying races next February, and set his sights on achieving a position that will qualify him to represent the Bahrain marathon at the Tokyo Olympiad.
