High Appeals Court adjourns case until December 4

Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): Advocate General Haroon Alzayani said the High Court of Appeal on Sunday adjourned the case of the secretary-general of a political society until December 4. The suspect had promoted a coup d'état, threated political regime change by illegal violent means, instigated hate against a specific sect of people, breached the law and insulted a statutory establishment. The Public Prosecution referred the suspect in custody for a court trial on the basis of verbal, technical and material evidences, including his speeches on public platforms and media channels, including his incitement and insults. The case was deliberated at the various court levels until the High Court of Appeal examined the evidences, heard the prosecution and defence statements and sentenced him to 9 years incarceration on various charges. The Court of Cassation turned down the said verdict and referred the case to the Court of Appeal to re-consider the case again. Today, the suspect appeared in court accompanied with his lawyer and the court decided to adjourn the case for issuance of its sentence and ordered his continuous remanding.
