High Elections Supervisory Committee holds workshop

Manama, (BNA): A workshop was held at the Isa Cultural Centre for civil society institutions involved in monitoring national elections.
Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, Head of the High Elections Supervisory Committee Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, committee members and Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission (LLOC) Chairman, elections executive director Nawaf Abdulla Hamza attended.
Bahrain Transparency Society, Bahrain Jurists Association, Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society and Bahraini Public Relations Society will take part in monitoring the elections, along with the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR). A total of 231 observers will take part in monitoring the upcoming elections.
Undersecretary for Judicial Affairs, committee member, Wael Rasheed Boually stressed the role of civil society institutions in fostering the electoral legal culture and bolstering the principles of transparency, probity, and bolstering sound democratic practices.
He announced the establishment of a direct hotline between the High Elections Supervisory Committee and the civil society institutions to follow up remarks on the elections day and verify them instantly.
He outlined the regulations set by the High Elections Supervisory Committee, detailing the work procedures at the polling centres, adding that the ultimate objective is to enable voters to exercise their constitutional rights and choose their parliamentary and municipal representatives.
